The 90-minute two-act play will be performed twice at 3 pm and 7 pm. In between the two performances will be a 120-minute intermission. Tickets are $25 individually or $20 each for groups of 10 or more. Tickets can be purchased online at http://www.eventbrite.com/e/what-if-heaven-was-black-tickets-14080847193?aff=es2&rank=1.

“WHAT IF HEAVEN WAS BLACK?” tells the story of eight strangers of all ages whose lives intersect in an unexpected way as they face their day of reckoning – ready or not. Will they make it through the pearly gates? Or will their past sins catch up with them? Either way, their fates will be decided by the end of the play.

Although the characters come from all walks of life – a police officer, a makeup artist, a high school senior with a football scholarship, a loving family man, a schizophrenic and more – Damon describes them as “all struggling with varying degrees of fear, sadness, confusion and a lack of understanding” that leaves their future eternity in question for them.

This is the first play written by stage, film and television actor Jonathan Damon. A native Philadelphian from the Wynnefield section, Damon has appeared in numerous productions. His previous stage performances include roles in “Handwriting on the Wall,” “Tryna’ Get to Heaven on 15 Cents,” and “Man, I Shoulda’ Put a Ring On It.” He has also had supporting roles in episodes of the TV series “Hack” and “Singledom” as well as a lead role in the series “Warrant Unit.”  He has previously worked with Marshall in the award-winning film short “3 Women: The Movie” and in the feature-length “Love & Litigation.” He also worked under Marshall’s direction in the theatrical productions “The Conversation” and its sequel, “The Rebuttal.” Also a comedian, Damon has participated in the 2000 World Championship of the Performing Arts in Burbank, CA and has trained with the Evelyn Graves Drama Guild.

Marshall is an up-and-coming Philadelphia stage and film director. Her most recent projects include director of the award-winning short film “3 Women: The Movie” as well as short films “A Child of God” and the forthcoming “Compromised,” which premieres Dec. 4. She has also directed the feature-length film "Love & Litigations." Her theatrical experience includes directing the hit plays “The Conversation” and its sequel, “The Rebuttal.” She has also served as Assistant Director of the Urban Philadelphia Play Festival for the award winning Stage Play Seven Deadly Sins, and VI Degrees.
